``You'd think the fish would be crazy, hungry as heck, but they're not,'' said Davidson, who was among a handful of people on the lake in fishing boats. He said he wasn't complaining, he was glad to be able to fish again.

The Castaic fire started Aug. 26 and was surrounded Monday evening. No date was estimated for control of the fire.

More than 2,000 firefighters were on the fire line at the height of the blaze. On Thursday, about 130 remained in the area on mop-up duty. A 15-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty to starting the fire.

Closing the Castaic Lake Recreation Area cost some businesses thousands of dollars, while others said they survived by selling goods to weary firefighters.

Meanwhile, a 59,000-acre fire near Yosemite National Park Yosemite National Park (yōsĕm`ĭtē), 761,266 acres (308,205 hectares), E central Calif.; est. 1890 as a result of the efforts of conservationist John Muir. Located in the Sierra Nevada, it is a glacier-scoured area of great beauty; Mt.  was surrounded Wednesday evening. It began Aug. 14.
