CASH STATION'S STEPHEN S. COLE APPOINTED TO INTERLINK BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Interlink Network announced today that Stephen S. Cole, president and chief executive officer of Chicago-based Cash Station Inc., has been appointed to the Interlink Network board of directors.
Cash Station, with 3,000 automated teller machines and 3.5 million cardholders, serves close to 500 financial institutions. It will be the second regional network to be represented on the Interlink board. Moreover, the addition of Cash Station as a regional processor of Interlink transactions brings the total number of regional networks participating in Interlink to 23.
"I am pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the management and direction of Interlink and look forward to playing an integral role in the national success of the network," said Cole.
"Stephen's extensive experience in the emerging on-line debit market makes him a valuable addition to the Interlink Board," said Wesley C. Tallman, president and chief executive officer of Interlink Network.
Cash Station Inc. is the largest shared electronic funds transfer (EFT) network in Illinois and one of the largest shared networks in the country. Processing more than 7 million ATM transactions a month, Cash Station Inc. is also the fastest growing point-of-sale (POS) program in the country, with nearly 21,000 terminals available to its cardholders throughout the Midwest.
As the largest direct-debit, POS network in the world, Interlink processes more than half of all direct-debit POS transactions conducted in the United States. Interlink, which averages 325,000 daily transactions, posted a growth rate of more than 25 percent in 1992.
Interlink Network is a subsidiary of Visa U.S.A. Following its acquisition of Interlink Network in the fall of 1991, Visa expanded the program, which had been operational in five Western states, nationwide.
