No, the Valley was not the birthplace of shopping malls. But the Panorama Mall in Panorama City began the shopping craze in the Valley in the early 1950s. Moon Unit Zappa's hit song ``Valley Girl'' in 1982 and the film that followed a year later left no doubt that three decades later, the Valley had become a shopping mecca. It still is. If you're in a shopping mood, here are a few places to check out.

Antelope Valley Mall The Antelope Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Palmdale, California.

Opened in September, 1990, its buildings take up around 1 million square feet (90,000 m²). Its physical main building, parking lots, and ring road businesses encompass an area a bit less than 0.
