 CAROLINA FIRST SAVINGS BANK APPOINTS
 HINSON AND HOGAN TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 GEORGETOWN, S.C., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Carolina First Savings Bank (NASDAQ-NMS: CAFC) has appointed Keith C. Hinson and Michael R. Hogan to its Board of Director. Both new directors are respected business leaders with a strong interest in community affairs. Hinson, a native of Horry County, has been actively involved in the real estate industry for 15 years and President of Waccamaw Land & Timber Co. for 10 years. Hogan has spent his career in the insurance business and as been President of Puckett, Scheetz & Hogan since 1985.
 The appointments add two new seats to the Board of Directors of Carolina First Savings Bank. David L. Morrow, President of Carolina First Savings Bank, commented, "The expansion of our Board of Directors is consistent with our growth plans in coastal South Carolina. Currently, we are building on our strong base in Georgetown by increasing our presence into Myrtle Beach. We are pleased to welcome Mr. Hinson and Mr. Hogan to our Board.
