CARMICHAEL LYNCH WINS BEST OF SHOW, SEVEN GOLD AWARDS IN THE SHOW 1992
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Minneapolis-based Carmichael Lynch Advertising dominated The Show 1992 Thursday night, claiming seven of eight gold awards and the Best of Show trophy for a campaign on behalf of Rollerblade.
Carmichael Lynch's gold awards were created for Rollerblade, for which it garnered four gold awards; Zebco, recipient of two golds, and Skeeter Boats, which received one.
Bozell of Minneapolis was the only other gold award winner in The Show, for an entry on behalf of the agency.
The Show awards were presented Thursday evening at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis before a crowd of nearly 600 people from the Minnesota advertising community. More than 1,800 entries were received this year with 19 silver awards and 43 bronze awards handed out at The Show. Displayed during the cocktail hour were 153 merit award winners.
"We had some of the best judges in the country, so I think the winners speak for themselves," said Mike Gustafson, president of The Art Directors/Copywriters Club and co-chair of The Show."Thanks to the creative excellence found in the Twin Cities and the volunteers who planned this event for the last nine months, the event was fabulous," said Cathy Klima, Advertising Federation of Minnesota and co-chair of The Show.
Carmichael Lynch's best of show was for a consumer magazine campaign of three ads in which the sport of in-line skating is depicted as a fun and exhilarating alternative to other forms of exercise. Art director for the campaign was Jeff Terwilliger and copywriter was Kerry Casey. Photography used in the ads was shot by Pete Stone and Eric Meola.
The evening was hosted by eight comedians -- Ken Bradley, Tim Cavanagh, Jeff Cesario, Alex Cole, Elk & Seal, Jeff Gerbino and Colleen Kruse.
