CARJACKINGS RESULT IN PAIR OF CRASHES, ARREST OF TWO.

A carjacker led police on a wild chase through the Northeast Valley early Thursday morning, stealing two vehicles and crashing them both before he was captured, authorities said.

, 20, and his passenger, Ignacio Ortega, 18, both of North Hollywood, were booked on suspicion of carjacking The criminal taking of a motor vehicle from its driver by force, violence, or intimidation.

. Rosales, who is also accused of breaking into a Sun Valley home, will face additional charges.

Police said the pursuit began when the two suspects stole a Ford Escort Over the years, the name 'Ford Escort' has been used for several models.

During the second chase, the suspect crashed the stolen car into some parked vehicles near Saticoy Street and Vineland Avenue, around 2 a.m.

He fled on foot again and broke into a residence in the 7500 block of Craner Avenue, Buhrmester said. Eight people in the home fled, leaving behind a 10-year-old child with Down syndrome Down syndrome, congenital disorder characterized by mild to severe mental retardation, slow physical development, and characteristic physical features. Down syndrome affects about 1 in every 730 live births and occurs in all populations equally.  and his caretaker. Police managed to remove the two before entering the residence.

The chase ended when officers found Rosales hiding in a closet and arrested him without further incident.
