The historical society signed an agreement in 1993 with Montalvo to take over the Carey property eventually and to maintain and operate the site using money from a homeowners association. But on Tuesday, Los Angeles County supervisors are expected to approve a deal that would include opening the ranch to the public and accepting a $10,000 donation by the operators of the Chiquita Canyon Landfill near Val Verde. ``It is currently owned by the developer and they have done a tremendous amount of restoration on it,'' said Paul Novak, planning deputy for county Supervisor Michael D. Carey and his family moved to the property in 1916 and lived there off and on for about two decades.
