Bosses ignored his relatives' complaints about treatment until he was at death's door.

Even then it took a doctor to step in and send him to hospital.

A hard-hitting Care Commission report outlined 15 failures at Beechwood Park in Sauchie, Clackmannanshire.

Daughter Moira Begg, 50, of Alloa, said: "On the day dad was removed from the home, I saw the GP writing a note saying dad would die if he was left at Beechwood.

"They repeatedly failed to treat him properly or carry out simple tests doctors had asked them to.

"They even said they'd run out of paracetamol when there was a shop across the road selling it."

The widowed ex-HGV driver, of Alloa, died less than two weeks after being rushed to hospital.

Older daughter Margaret Clark, 54, of Inverkeithing, Fife, said: "It was left to us to contact the doctor when he became very ill."

The home - owned by millionaire mum and son Helena and Paul Jeffery - failed to train staff in wound management or the nutritional needs of the elderly.

Despite complaints, William ended up dehydrated and lost weight. A call assistance button was even kept out of his reach.

His family complained to the Care Commission after his death.

But Moira added: "We don't believe there have been any tough sanctions against them."

Marcia Ramsay, of the Care Commission, said: "We've worked closely with the home to ensure it is meeting requirements but we still have issues about the care given."

The family's lawyer, Cameron Fyfe, is preparing a civil action against the home.

Beechwood Park is run by the Jefferys' Caring Homes Group. Marketing chief Dawn Perry said it "wasn't possible to comment".

Three nurses working for the group at two other Scottish homes have been struck off by the Nursing & Midwifery midwifery (mĭd`wī'fərē), art of assisting at childbirth. The term midwife for centuries referred to a woman who was an overseer during the process of delivery. In ancient Greece and Rome, these women had some formal training.  Council.

Last month nurse Charles Paterson, 61, was kicked out for locking dementia patients in at the Kincardine Bridge Care Home.

His colleague Susanne Park, 29, was suspended for 12 months.
