LANCASTER - Seven individuals and two organizations were honored at the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

The Antelope Valley
 Career Prep Council's annual A.V. Bridge Awards ceremony.

The Bridge Awards recognize significant contributions, made over at least three years, to improve career preparation for Antelope Valley students. The name symbolizes the link between school and work.

Nominations were made by educators from elementary school elementary school: see school.  through college.

Honorees were:

--Matt Anderson, a teacher at Joe Walker Middle School in Quartz Hill, for his efforts to improve the tech education of middle-school students.

--R. Rex Parris of R. Rex Parris Law Firm in Lancaster, for helping students from continuation high schools A continuation high school is an alternative to a comprehensive high school primarily for students who are considered at-risk of not graduating at the normal pace. The requirements to graduate are the same but the scheduling is more flexible to allow students to earn their credits  prepare for and participate in the regional mock trial A simulated trial-level proceeding conducted by students to understand trial rules and processes. Usually tried before a mock jury, these proceedings are different from Moot Court proceedings, which simulate appellate arguments.  competition.

--Richard Chambers of Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) is an aerospace and defense conglomerate that is the result of the 1994 purchase of Grumman by Northrop. The company is the third largest defense contractor for the U.S. , for mentoring and support of Lancaster High School's robotics robotics, science and technology of general purpose, programmable machine systems. Contrary to the popular fiction image of robots as ambulatory machines of human appearance capable of performing almost any task, most robotic systems are anchored to fixed positions  program.

--Susan Studdert of Antelope Valley Hospital, for supporting Palmdale High School's Health Careers Academy teachers and students for more than a decade.

--Total Orthopedic Care Organization, for its support in preparing students from the Health Careers Academy.

--Regional Occupational Program Medical Assisting Program, with teachers Christine Graves, Andra Ratliff and Carol Arjo, for developing and expanding the program for adults and high school students.

A.V. Bridge's goals are to improve career preparation for local students and to improve the quality of the local work force. Over the last four years, 27 business organizations, five education programs and 29 individuals have been recognized.
