CARE GIRL'S CURRY CON ON OAP, 92; Teen steals pounds 1200 in a month.

Byline: Gordon Currie

A CARE home worker was caught ripping off a 92-year-old resident - after ordering takeaway curries.

The frail old lady also seemed to be using the internet to buy designer tracksuits and other clothes.

Her suspicious solicitor launched an inquiry.

Nicola Gordon, 18, was using the old lady's bank card to lavish designer clothes and jewellery on herself.

She was also using the card to buy regular takeaway meals for herself and her friends.

She stole pounds 1200 from the victim in less than a month.

Gordon, who has been sacked from the home, was told by a sheriff yesterday that she would have to pay back her victim in full.

Robbie Brown, prosecuting, told Perth Sheriff Court: "The victim had been resident in the home for six years. The cards were removed from a safe in her room.

"There was a combination on the safe and the accused got it fairly easily.

"It came to light when the solicitor, who had power of attorney, saw certain strange transactions on the account.

"By then, pounds 1200 had been taken."

Gordon, of Methven, Perthshire, admitted stealing two bank cards at the Dalnagar Nursing Home, Methven, between August 1 and 5 this year.
