The service utilizes an ID conversion function, which prevents information leaks by converting customer information into an ID number. The service accepts all major credit card brands, including JCB JCB Noun trademark, Brit a large machine used in building, that has a shovel on the front and a digger arm on the back [initials of Joseph Cyril Bamford, its manufacturer] JCB® n abbr and VISA. In Japan, payment in cash or by bank transfer have until recently been the most common methods of settling utility and other bills. CARDNET began offering its credit card-based utility payment service in 2002 and has established partnerships with Tokyo Gas Tokyo Gas Company (東京瓦斯株式会社 Tōkyō Gasu Kabushiki-gaisha TYO: 9531 ), founded in 1885, is the primary provider of natural gas to the main cities of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Co., TEPCO TEPCO Tokyo Electric Power Co.
