CAR WASH TO FUND KIDS' PROGRAM.

VALENCIA - Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  sheriff's deputies will hold a car wash Wednesday in Valencia to raise money for the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Sheriff's Department's 999 for Kids program, for disabled children who have been abused.

Deputies and other volunteers will wash cars from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Valencia AutoSpa, 23440 Valencia Blvd. Tickets are $10 (for a $17.99 wash) and are available by calling Deputy Mike Lorenzi at (661) 255-1121 or the AutoSpa at (661) 254-2000.

Lorenzi, who is coordinating the event, said ``999'' is the law enforcement code for ``officer needs emergency help.''

``In this instance, we do need help,'' Lorenzi said. ``We have sold close to 200 tickets, and we're hoping to sell at least to 300 to 400 tickets.''

999 for Kids was established in 1985 by the Sheriff's Department and the county Department of Children and Family Services. The program was developed to help physically and mentally disabled mentally disabled See Cognitively impaired.  children who are victims of the most severe cases of child abuse, neglect and family violence.

Fund-raisers help pay for such items and services as sport wheelchairs, computers, special-education classes, medically oriented o·ri·ent

``We are looking forward to supporting the event,'' said Randy Cressall, owner of the AutoSpa. ``The local sheriff's department has worked hard to sell these car wash tickets to their family and friends who are supporting the event.''
