CAR THEFT SUSPECT'S ESCAPE CUT SHORT.Byline: Greg Botonis Staff Writer PALMDALE - A car theft suspect who broke free as he was being handcuffed led deputies on a short foot pursuit Thursday before he was recaptured, deputies said. Carl Tucker, 44, of Palmdale surrendered after he jumped over a backyard wall near 11th Street East and Avenue J-8 and landed right in front of deputies who had surrounded sur·round tr.v. sur·round·ed, sur·round·ing, sur·rounds 1. Berk pulled the car over just after 8 a.m. in connection with speeding through a school zone near 10th Street East and Avenue K. As Berk checked on Tucker's license he also called in the license plate. The plate on the car didn't match the car it was on and the vehicle turned out to have been stolen from Orange County more than two months ago. There were three outstanding warrants for traffic violations on Tucker's suspended license. Berk pulled Tucker out of the car and began to handcuff him, when Tucker ran. Berk chased him to a high block wall just down the street from the car but by the time Tucker was over, Berk had called in other deputies to begin surrounding the neighborhood.
