CAR CHASE ENDS WITH ARREST IN VALLEY.

A suspected car thief led police on a chase from Reseda to Northridge, where he abandoned the first vehicle, carjacked another and crashed it into a light pole, authorities said.

The unidentified man was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto, carjacking The criminal taking of a motor vehicle from its driver by force, violence, or intimidation.

The u.s. justice department categorizes the crime of carjacking as a "completed or attempted Robbery of a motor vehicle by a stranger
 and evading arrest, officials said.

Police saw the suspect driving a stolen Holden Holden, town (1990 pop. 14,628), Worcester co., central Mass., a residential suburb of Worcester; settled 1723, set off and inc. 1741. Manufactures include electrical and metal products, plastics, and machinery.  about 1:50 p.m. and chased him from Valerio Street and Garden Grove Garden Grove, city (1990 pop. 143,050), Orange co., S Calif., a suburb of Long Beach and Los Angeles, on the Santa Ana River; founded 1877, inc. 1956. Many of its residents work in nearby aerospace and defense installations, and there is light manufacturing.  Avenue to Sherman Way and Etiwanda Avenue, Sgt. John Pasquariello said.

The chase ended when the man rammed the vehicle into a light pole at Loren Street and Darby Place in Northridge, Pasquariello said.

Two passengers in the station wagon escaped without injury.
