The release reads:

NEVADA OPERA ASSOCIATION APPOINTS NEW GENERAL DIRECTOR

Nevada Opera Association announced today that Diana E. Hoffman has joined the association as its General Director, providing new leadership to Nevada's oldest professional performing arts organization and the state's only professional opera company.

Ms. Hoffman has held a number of key executive roles in high-growth, global companies as well as carrying on a musical career. Prior to joining the Nevada Opera, she served as CEO and consultant to a variety of not-for-profit and technology companies.

In Silicon Valley, she co-founded a life science company, EnviroSystems, served as CEO/President and built the company from concept through commercialization. President George W. Bush recognized the company's support of the World Trade Center relief effort and placed Ms. Hoffman on a trade mission to Mexico and then on the Corporate Responsibility panel at the Economic Summit in 2002. Ms. Hoffman also supported the US Commerce Department's leadership in the first Americas Competitiveness Forum and established the public-private partnership panel for the Forum.

"I'm thrilled to have someone of Diana's caliber willing to take on this position," said Randi Thompson, President of the Association's Board. "We had many outstanding candidates, but Diana's professional experience, her passion for opera, her tireless work ethic and her enthusiasm were a combination we could not pass up. She is the type of leader to get us through this recession and ensure we're here another 42 years."

After graduating from law school in San Jose, Calif., Ms. Hoffman founded a Silicon Valley law firm, Hoffman and Kazubowski, which she managed for more than 20 years, specializing in business start-ups, reorganizations, mergers/acquisitions and corporate law. She served as corporate counsel for profit and non-profit corporations, and sat on Boards of Directors for non-profit and for profit corporations. In addition to her corporate and philanthropic commitments, as Assistant Professor at UC Davis' Graduate School of Management, she taught classes on New Product Development.

Ms. Hoffman has been awarded many civic and community awards and is an accomplished singer, pianist, and violinist.

"This honor of being the General Director of the Nevada Opera is the culmination of my careers in law, business, and theater," Ms. Hoffman told the Association Board of Directors on her acceptance of the General Director position.

Ms Hoffman holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Lincoln University Law School, San Jose, Calif., and a Baccalaureate Degree from San Francisco State University, San Francisco, Calif.

The Nevada Opera Association located in Reno, Nevada, is the only professional opera company and the oldest professional performing arts organization in Nevada, with a history that extends back to 1968. The 2009-2010 Season's presentations are Carmen (October), HMS Pinafore (February), and a concert by Hope Briggs (May), the Association's 2007 Aida.
