CAPTAIN ACCUSES FIRE CHIEF OF SLAP.

 filed the complaint with police, saying that Battalion Chief Bruce Barber Bruce Barber (born in New Zealand) is an artist, writer, curator, and educator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he teaches at NSCAD University. His artwork has been shown at the Paris Biennale, the Sydney Biennial, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, the Walter Phillips  struck him Sept. 3, authorities said.

Brewster told investigators that Barber ``grabbed him by his jacket, striking him once to the right side of the face with an open hand,'' said LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

Brewster, 43, of Northridge, said the attack was unprovoked and that it occurred as Barber briefed his crew on the circumstances of the bomb threat.

Assistant Chief Michael Fulmis said the Fire Department is investigating but declined further comment.

The incident occurred Sept. 3 when Brewster's Battalion 14 was called to the 4500 block of Tujunga Avenue to help a police bomb squad.
