CANYONS STAR DAMWIJK NAMED WSC'S TOP PLAYER.

Former Sylmar High School Sylmar High School is a public school in the northeast San Fernando Valley in the Sylmar district of Los Angeles, California. Established in the 1950s, it is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, District 2, and serves more than 3,600 students in grades 9-12.  shortstop Hiram Damwijk has been selected Player of the Year in baseball from the Western State Conference South Division.

Damwijk, who transferred this season from Mission College, led College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  to the conference championship with his clutch hitting and fielding.

First-team all-conference picks for Canyons included Rob Rehfeld, Jesse Daggett and David Soto. Glendale was represented by Sheldon Philip-Guide, Jared Sandler and Shawn Lange. Mission's Tony Pulido and Mike Weiss also were honored.

Hart's Horvat commits:Hart third baseman Eric Horvat has made an oral commitment to Cal State Northridge. Horvat is hitting .520 with 32 RBI. He plans to sign a letter of intent later this week.

Football commitment:Tim Gustafson, a tight end at Village Christian, has decided to attend Case Western University, an NCAA Division III school in Cleveland, Ohio. Gustafson also has received a Presidential Scholarship valued at $13,500 for his academic success.
