Doyle, who played high school basketball at Canyon, took an unofficial visit Monday to Division II CSUSB CSUSB California State University, San Bernardino  after canceling a planned recruiting trip to Utah because of a schedule conflict.

``It looks like wherever I go, I might have to redshirt, because there will be too many returning players and blue-chip recruits,'' she said. ``I'm supposed to be going to Utah soon, but I'm not sure when.''

In other College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. Robert Linda and Jason Barbic are competing, and they have looked good during spring workouts, according to coach Greg Sobiech.

Linda, a junior, was the team's top receiver last year. Barbic, a senior, was McDonald's backup.

Burbank, which will play one more season in the Foothill League before joining the Pacific League, is expecting a big season from running back Marcus Hood, a sophomore who was forced play on the junior-varsity team last season because of transfer restrictions. Jason McNeill, the Bulldogs' top running back last year, returns, so there should be lively competition between them.

Defensively, Burbank's top returning player is Grant Valentine, a 6- foot-3, 230-pound end who runs a 4.7 40-yard dash.

``Grant is quick, and he's our most dominating player,'' Sobiech said.

Burbank begins the summer passing season Saturday at the 16-team Crescenta Valley tournament at the Glendale Sports Complex.

In other passing tournament action, most of the top schools from Santa Clarita and beyond compete Friday and Saturday in the annual Hart tournament at College of the Canyons. The top quarterbacks are Valencia's Michael Herrick, Hart's Tyler Lyon and Oaks Christian of Westlake Village's Jimmy Clausen.

--Canyon football receiver Danny Garcia had successful shoulder surgery Tuesday. He's hoping to return for the season opener in September.
