At tonight's college board meeting, trustees will review recommendations that include hiring a construction management service and extending a contract with a geologist. Jim Schrage, the college's dean of physical plant and facilities planning, said the project is running smoothly. The grading process -- facilitated by the geologist to remove loose soil and replace it with compacted soil -- is on schedule, and still on budget. The next step, hiring construction management, will put the project into its next phase. ``We are now hiring construction management services to get the project out for bids, write contracts, and supervise construction,'' Schrage said. ``They will be my eyes and ears on the site.'' Schrage said the site should be ready to start construction in November November: see month. . The Department of State Architects just approved a physical-education building, plans that had been submitted 10 months ago. A Canyon Country committee, which was formed to pick a construction site, has remained active and is working with the college to develop a campus that is appealing to the community, and its college students. Jill Harper, a member of the college's Canyon Country Campus Committee since its inception, remembers how delighted her daughter was when College of the Canyons began offering satellite courses at the Canyon Country library. ``She was absolutely thrilled thrill v. thrilled, thrill·ing, thrills v.tr. 1. Harper added that the committee is actively seeking ways to bring the Western feel of Canyon Country to the new building. ``Even the names of the building will reflect the community's ranch ranch, large farm devoted chiefly to raising and breeding cattle, horses, sheep, and goats.
