CANYON RETURNS VETERANS : COWBOYS HAVE ONE-TWO PUNCH ON GIRLS' TEAM.Byline: Dave Shelburne Daily News Staff Writer Remember all those teams that were trampled during Canyon High's run to Southern Section and state girls' cross country championships in 1995? By the end of this season, they might be calling last year the good old days. Coach Dave DeLong's Cowboys could wind up even faster this season, because they return four of their top seven runners from a team that went undefeated and won its fourth Foothill League title in five years. ``Time will tell,'' said DeLong, who would rather wait to assess a squad that is talented and motivated but lacks the staggering depth of the '95 Cowboys. ``We're gonna be as good as we can be,'' is as far as he'll go with a prediction. That should be plenty good, considering Canyon's top two returning runners - senior Julie Harris Julie Harris (born December 2, 1925) is a distinguished American stage, screen, and television actress. She has won five Tony Awards and three Emmy Awards, and was nominated for an Academy Award. She is a member of the American Theatre Hall of Fame. and sophomore Lauren Fleshman - might be as fast a tandem as any in the state. Last spring in track, both ranked among California's eight quickest two-milers (Harris at 10:46 and Fleshman 10:58). ``We'll definitely have a very good one-two punch one-two punch n. 1. Returning varsity runners Jean Drummond and Angelica Hauto (both sub-12:20 two-milers), freshman surprise Erin White Erin White (born October 27, 1977 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian softball first baseman. She is a graduate of Iowa State University. She was a part of the Canadian Softball team who finished 5th at the 2004 Summer Olympics. and former frosh-soph team standouts Jasmine Cetrone and Cassie Hencey all proved solid in filling out a top seven. ``Last year we were nine deep and we didn't need nine,'' said DeLong, whose '95 team sent four runners on to college cross country programs. ``This year, we'll have a really solid seven.''
