CANYON QB MIGHT WANT TO GO HOME.

After a solid football season at Canyon High last fall, quarterback Will Brogan is hoping to play college football in his former home state of Ohio.

Brogan, a 6-foot-1, 195-pounder who passed for 2,253 and 21 touchdowns in 12 games as a senior, has taken unofficial visits to Division III

``Will wants to go back East to play, and I said I'd support whatever decision he makes, though I might not get many chances to see him play,'' said his father, Rich.

Rich said his son has also received interest from Division I-AA schools New Hampshire New Hampshire, one of the New England states of the NE United States. Lyon passed for 3,116 yards and accounted for 33 touchdowns in 12 games last season and he's grown to 6-foot-6 1/2 and 210 pounds. He's also well-connected because his father is College of the Canyons head coach Chuck Lyon, and his longtime personal coach is COC See chip on chip.  offensive coordinator An offensive coordinator typically refers to the coach on a football team in the National Football League or College football who is in charge of the offense. This position aids the head coach by designing and scripting plays, delegating work to offensive position coaches during  Dean Herrington, both of whom are well-respected among college coaches. Lyon also has major-league baseball potential as a pitcher. His fastball could approach 90 mph by the time he graduates.

The past five Hart quarterbacks received major-college scholarships, most recently Sean Norton (Fresno State).

 Indiana Tech last season after attracting notice by mailing coaches videotape of her performances. This season, she transferred to COC, and the sophomore right-hander is 4-0 with a 1.75 ERA and four complete games.

--Another intriguing athlete at COC is Janette Galindo, formerly of Burroughs High of Burbank. Galindo is dividing her time between women's basketball Women's basketball is one of the few games which developed in tandem with men's. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges.  and softball. She's one of the team's top starters in basketball and hitting .400 in softball.

``Right now, Janette plays softball in any game that doesn't conflict with a basketball game or basketball practice,'' softball coach Ray Whitten said. ``We've only been able to get her for two games so far.''

--After winning 10 of its past 11 games, Valencia's boys' basketball team (20-6) is two victories shy of the school single-season record of 22, set in 2002-03.

Valencia has won at least 19 games for the third season in a row. Fourth- year coach Rocket Collins is 75-34, a winning percentage of .688.

Valencia opens the Southern Section Div. I-AA playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Friday against visiting Arcadia (12-15).
