CANYON HAS 'SOUND OF MUSIC' POPULAR STORY FIRST MUSICAL FOR SCHOOL IN 4 YEARS.

CANYON COUNTRY - Canyon High School's advanced drama class will stage its first musical in four years - ``The Sound of Music'' - opening Wednesday on campus.

The classic story of the von Trapp Von Trapp could refer to:
  • Georg Ritter von Trapp and Maria von Trapp of the Trapp family (see The Sound of Music)
  • The von Trapp Children, great-grandchildren of Georg and Maria von Trapp
  • Renata von Trapp, a fictional opera singer portrayed by Jennifer Saunders
 family will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday and at 2 and 6 p.m May 17 in the Q Theatre, 19300 W. Nadal St., Canyon Country.

The cast of more than 40 students are under the leadership of drama teacher Bonnie bon·ny also bon·nie

Sharing the role of Maria are Missy Soltero and Joanna Carpenter.

Sofia, Melanie, Amanda, and Justin von Trapp are the decedents of the famous Trapp Family Singers. They are the grandchildren of Werner von Trapp (1915-2007) and great-grand children of Georg Ritter von Trapp and Maria von Trapp.

Student director Martin is completing his fourth year in Canyon's drama program and plans to pursue a career in theater arts upon graduation.

Tickets to ``the Sound of Music'' are $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Canyon Drama Department at (661) 252-6110.
