CANYON COUNTRY STATION CLOSING DEPUTIES FORCED TO FIND NEW POST.

CANYON COUNTRY - The sheriff's storefront substation at the Edwards Theatre complex in Canyon Country is set to close Monday as property owners consider leasing the space to new tenants.

Sheriff's Capt. Patti Minutello said leaving the complex would not have an immediate impact on the community.

``We are not giving up on the people of Canyon Country,'' she said. ``We will find another site.''

``The lease expired some time ago,'' Russell said. ``We'll lease it to the Sheriff's Department if they like, but we'd like to rent it out.''

Although no regular deputy oversees the station, it is used by organizations such as the local Community Interaction Team and other volunteer groups.
