CANYON COUNTRY'S ATLER WINS AT TRIALS.

Vanessa Atler Vanessa Marie Atler is a retired American elite gymnast. She was best known for her explosive, difficult vaults and tumbling skills, and was the first female American gymnast to perform a Rudi vault, which she debuted at the 1999 American Cup.  is no stranger to top-notch gymnastics competitions. In front of an enthusiastic, partisan crowd at Cal Poly Cal Poly may refer to:

 Pomona, Atler turned the competition into her own personal showcase at the Pan American Games Pan American (Sports) Games

The 17-year-old captured first place in three of the four apparatus en route to an all-around championship.

``It's one of her best performances,'' said Charter Oak Gliders gymnastics coach Steve Rybacki, who trains Atler. ``It's another step to where we want to be.''

Atler, a Canyon Country resident, leads a team of six gymnasts who qualified to represent the U.S. at the Pan American Games, which will take place this July and August in Winnipeg, Canada.

Ranked No. 2 in the nation, Atler stood out from the group of 33 young women from the onset of the competition. She was just the second gymnast on the floor exercise but left a lasting impression. With tango music Tango is a style of music that originated among European immigrant populations of Argentina and Uruguay. It is traditionally played by a sextet, known as the orquesta típica, which includes two violins, piano, doublebass, and two bandoneons.  setting the beat, Atler scored a 9.85, good enough to last the entire competition and to win the gold.

, trailing Sierra Sapunar of Cincinnati, who scored a 9.750.

``I've always had trouble in the (uneven) bars,'' said Atler. ``But each thing is getting better and hopefully by the time I get to Worlds (championships), (the trouble) will all be gone.''

Atler finished the competition with a 9.825 on the balance beam to win her third apparatus gold and secure the all-around title with an overall score of 39.287.

Jennie Thompson and Alyssa Beckerman Alyssa Erin Beckerman (born January 23, 1981 in Long Branch, New Jersey) is an American gymnast and student.

Beckerman was a member of the United States National Gymnastics Team from 1997 to 2000.
 of Cincinnati, who finished second and third, respectively, and sixth-place finisher Erinn Dooley of Gaithersburg, Md. will also compete with the U.S. Pan American team.

Despite the opportunity to represent the U.S., Atler is uncertain whether she will compete in the Pan American Games or other summer tournaments in which she might face tougher competition.

Jamie Dantzscher of San Dimas finished fifth in the all-around to secure a spot on the team. Jeanette Antolin of Huntington Beach and Diamond Bar finished fourth.
