CANYON BACKUP QB FULFILLS DREAM.

Byline: GERRY GITTELSON

Like every second-string quarterback, Will Brogan always fantasized about throwing a dramatic game-winning touchdown pass with the season on the line.

The dream came true Friday.

Canyons won 40-36.

Brogan was knocked to the turf just as he threw the pass and didn't see Coen catch it. But he sure heard the roar of the crowd.

``I was pretty happy,'' Brogan said. ``All I was really trying to do was to avoid a sack or an interception. Then I got up and saw everyone celebrating.''

When Brogan woke up the next morning, his mother already had gone out and bought 10 copies of the newspaper.

``It was crazy. Will didn't have a chance like that all season, then he comes through in the clutch,'' Coen said. ``It really was amazing. I don't think too many people thought we were going to pull it off.''

Actually, this wasn't the first time Brogan has shown a flair for the dramatic. In his first game on the junior varsity junior varsity
