football team has dominated the Foothill League, winning 28 straight games. Rarely has a league opponent lost by less than two touchdowns.

Canyon is no different, having lost by the likes of 42-19 in 1994, 28-7 in 1995 and 41-3 last year.

But Canyon coach Larry Mohr likes to think his teams have come closest to beating Hart. Mohr points to the 1995 game, when Canyon trailed by a touchdown with about six minutes to play.

Hart coach Mike Herrington disagreed that Canyon has come closest. The least one-sided win in recent years was a 20-7 decision over Burbank in 1994. The final score is all that matters, he said.

The local rivalry's latest renewal is tonight at 7:30 at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. Until someone knocks off the Indians (4-1), they will remain the favorite. Canyon has yet to show it can stop Hart's run-and-shoot offense. The Cowboys (3-2) have tried eight-man fronts and have double-teamed Hart's top receiver. In each case, some other Hart receiver stays open and enjoys a big game.

Hart quarterback David Neill David Neill (born July 17 1980[]) was an American college football quarterback for the University of Nevada. In 1998 he set an NCAA record for most touchdown passes in a season by a freshman with 29 thrown.  is the latest in a long line of successful signal-callers, having passed for 1,040 yards. Mohr also is impressed with the defense that has given up 237.6 yards per game, although Loyola running back Wesley Willard rushed for 178 yards against them.
