CANOGA ELKS HONOR DAILY NEWS COLUMNIST.


Daily News columnist columnist, the writer of an essay appearing regularly in a newspaper or periodical, usually under a constant heading. Although originally humorous, the column in many cases has supplanted the editorial for authoritative opinions on world problems.  Dennis McCarthy Dennis McCarthy may refer to:
  • Dennis McCarthy (composer), (born 1945), an American composer
  • Dennis McCarthy (congressman), (19th century) Lieutenant Governor of New York in 1885
  • Dennis McCarthy MBE (radio presenter), British radio presenter
 was named Citizen of the Year by the Canoga Park Elks Lodge at an awards banquet A banquet is a large public meal or feast, complete with main courses and desserts. It usually serves a purpose, such as a charitable gathering, a ceremony, or a celebration. Sometimes a banquet consists of only desserts, but it is advisable to include main courses as well.  Thursday Thursday: see week.  for his contributions to the community and support of the group's activities.

``Everybody respects the column he writes,'' said Elks spokesman Fred Parks. ``He has done a lot of outstanding work for the community. Everybody just feels that he is a very special person and that he has the community in his heart.''

McCarthy has written various columns about the Elks, including about the group's recent donation of 280 new dictionaries to 12 schools in the organization's area. Parks said McCarthy through his columns has also demonstrated a strong support for law enforcement.
