CANEUS Announces MNT-for-Aerospace Visionary Awards: Call for Nominations.MONTREAL -- CANEUS CANEUS Canada-Europe-USA-Asia (development of micro-nano-technologies for future aerospace applications) is pleased to announce the introduction of the "MNT-for-Aerospace" Visionary 1. visionary - One who hacks vision, in the sense of an Artificial Intelligence researcher working on the problem of getting computers to "see" things using TV cameras. (There isn't any problem in sending information from a TV camera to a computer. Awards, for exceptional individuals who have made important contributions in the arena of transitioning Micro and Nano Technologies (MNT See molecular nanotechnology. ) from the laboratory into aerospace systems. As the membership of CANEUS has found, overcoming the tremendous challenges facing the transition of emerging MNT concepts to system level products often requires a special motivation and drive by individuals who can serve as an inspiration to our community. The Visionary Awards aim to recognize these talents and accomplishments, which are very synergistic synergistic /syn·er·gis·tic/ (sin?er-jis´tik) 1. acting together. 2. enhancing the effect of another force or agent. syn·er·gis·tic adj. 1. with the overall CANEUS mission. Four "MNT-for-Aerospace" Visionary Awards to be presented include the Smalley Medal for Excellence in Nanotechnology nanotechnology: see micromechanics. nanotechnology Manipulation of atoms, molecules, and materials to form structures on the scale of nanometres (billionths of a metre). for Aerospace, the CANEUS Medal for Excellence in Micro-Nano-technology for Aerospace, the CANEUS Outstanding Student Medal for MNT for Aerospace, and the CANEUS Medal for Vision and Leadership in MNT for Aerospace. The awards are presented to individuals or teams who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in technical or commercialization activities related to the transition of emerging MNT concepts to aerospace systems. In addition, five CANEUS Fellows will be selected in recognition of their crucial contributions in support of CANEUS organization activities. Nominations of deserving de·serv·ing adj. Worthy, as of reward, praise, or aid. n. Merit; worthiness. de·serv ing·ly adv. individuals are currently being accepted, and will be evaluated by peer review. Nominations must include a brief summary of the contributions of the nominees, describing how their outstanding achievements and vision helped influence the development and infusion of emerging MNT concepts within the Aerospace industry. Award recipients will be honored hon·or n. 1. High respect, as that shown for special merit; esteem: the honor shown to a Nobel laureate. 2. a.
