CANDY'S TORTILLA FACTORY ANNOUNCES DECREASE IN SALES TO TACO BELL

CANDY'S TORTILLA FACTORY ANNOUNCES DECREASE IN SALES TO TACO BELL
PUEBLO, Colo., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Candy's Tortilla Factory Inc. (NASDAQ: CNDY) today announced that Taco Bell has reassigned its Oklahoma distribution center to a supplier in Arkansas. Supplying this center generated approximately $1.7 million of Candy's current annualized sales of $38 million.
In a related action, Candy's has discontinued supplying Taco Bell's Kansas distribution center which generated approximately $4.4 million of Candy's annualized sales. "This action puts Candy's in a position where all of its major customers' volume is of the same order of magnitude," said Anthony Estrada, president and chief executive officer of Candy's.
Because of the newly restructured arrangement, Candy's will continue to be the exclusive supplier of product to Taco Bell's Denver distribution center which services the Rocky Mountain region, and certain franchisees. This arrangement will provide Candy's with the ability to better serve its growing customer base.
Based in Pueblo, Candy's Tortilla Factory manufactures, markets and distributes a premium quality line of flour and corn tortillas, taco shells and tortilla chips, packaged and marketed under its own labels and various private labels to the retail, institutional and foodservice markets. Retail customers include Safeway, Kroger and Albertson's. Foodservice customers include Kraft, Lady Baltimore and Sysco. Candy's institutional customers include Taco Bell and McDonald's.
