CANADIAN FIRM, 3D SYSTEMS STRIKE $10 MILLION DEAL.

Byline: Daily News

VALENCIA - A Canadian firm will pay $10 million for hundreds of machines manufactured by Valencia-based 3D Systems Corp. to more quickly craft dental crowns, bridges and other devices.

Cynovad of Montreal Of Montreal is an American indie pop band formed in Athens, Georgia, fronted by Kevin Barnes. It was among the second wave of groups to emerge from The Elephant 6 Recording Company.  and 3D signed a manufacturing and supply agreement last week for 3D's solid object printers to be delivered through the end of 2004.

The agreement including materials and 3D Systems service support. 3D manufactures ``printers'' that produce three-dimensional objects from computer images.

Under the agreement, 3D Systems will deliver the WaxPro printers to Cynovad to sell to dental laboratories around the world. The dental parts built on the printer can be used as master patterns for investment casting investment casting

``Cynovad's ability to sell directly to dental labs adds an exciting new application for digital 3-D printing,'' said Gordon Moore Gordon Earle Moore (b. According to Cynovad's research, more than 50,000 dental laboratories in North America, Western Europe and Japan produce about 100 million restorations annually.

The WaxPro process integrates Cynovad's scanning and modeling technologies, developed specifically for dental applications, and 3D Systems' solid object printer. The combined technologies operate under Cynovad's global operating software.
