CAN'T STOP HERE\Studio City parking scarce.

Byline: Terri Hardy Daily News Staff Writer

So you're driving down Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. It was also U.S.  in Studio City, dying for pancakes.

Pulling into the lot next to Du-par's Restaurant, you discover there's no place to park. You circle the lot again - and again.

Studio City's motto may be "a great place to be," but shoppers at many stores along Ventura Boulevard know it's not a good place to park.

"It's pretty bad in Studio City," admits Sharon Schmidt, Du-par's manager. "People get really fed up. And if they can't park, they go elsewhere."

Merchants and residents attending a round-table discussion hosted Thursday by Mayor Richard Riordan Richard J. Riordan (born May 1, 1930) is a Republican politician from California, U.S. who served as the California Secretary of Education from 2003–2005 and as Mayor of Los Angeles from 1993–2001. Riordan ran for Governor of California unsuccessfully in 2002.  said Studio City has become a parking nightmare and asked for help.

John Nelson, president of the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, urged city officials to consider building a parking structure on Ventura Boulevard.

lot with 36 spaces at 12229-1/2 Ventura Blvd., and it's possible that a parking structure could be considered there, said Jane Blumenfeld, chief of staff for City Councilman Mike Feuer.

"There's no disagreement that parking is a severe problem," Blumenfeld said. "The issue is how to finance a solution."

Also Thursday, the Studio City Residents Association proposed starting a shuttle service down the boulevard - a concept first proposed in 1984, said Polly Polly Biotechnology A Poll Dorset sheep cloned from sheep skin cells, which has a human gene in each cell. "At the time, the city said they didn't want to do it because it would compete with long-distance bus lines," Ward said. "But now, I feel much more optimistic op·ti·mist

A DASH shuttle now travels only two blocks down Ventura before heading to the Van Nuys City Hall. Ward said the bus is usually empty, and rerouting would better serve the community.

She said she also would like to see the shuttle pick up passengers from a park-and-ride lot in Universal City, saying it could be a cheap parking alternative for Studio City employees.

said at the meeting that the city already is looking at several inefficient bus routes and would consider changes in Studio City.
