any way to end a season other than at a Southern Section final.

In their first two years at Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:
  • a residence hall at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech)
  • Campbell Hall School in North Hollywood, California
of North Hollywood, they were members of Vikings baseball teams that won back-to-back Div. VI titles, and they also played on the school's football team that reached last year's Div. XIII final.

The desire to keep the trend going fuels Campbell Hall's optimism as it enters this season ranked among the top local small schools, but as an underdog to return to the final.

``These kids look forward to getting back there,'' said Vikings football coach Russ Gordon, whose team begins its season tonight at Lancaster. ``They've been there and won the past two years in baseball and last year were second in football. They have yet to experience a year without a final. They've got that winning attitude. They've been there and they know what it takes.''

Juniors Kaplan and Zebrack take on prominent roles this season -- Kaplan returning at quarterback and Zebrack expected to be one of his primary targets.

Kaplan was the Delphic League's second-leading passer last season with 1,621yards and 13 touchdowns.

The familiarity with winning ways extends beyond the duo. Other members of the football team spent last winter on Campbell Hall's basketball team that reached the state playoffs.

``It makes us ready for big games,'' said defensive end/tight end Taylor Henry, who was one of those on the basketball team.

``Really, we are expecting to get back there (to the final),'' Henry said. ``Last time we just didn't finish. ... Everybody knows we have to play even harder now because we lost all those seniors. We're going to do everything we can to get back to the finals.''
