 Techint led an international consortium to a big prize: the concession to transport and distribute natural gas from Peru's Camisea field in the department of Cuzco. The sole bid of US$1.45 billion fell about $1 million short of what the government had expected for the 33-year contract. Camisea has proven reserves of around 13 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Techint makes up 30% in the consortium, which also includes Argentina's Pluspetrol (19%), U.S.-based Hunt Oil (19%), Peru's Grana grana /gra·na/ (gra´nah) dense green, chlorophyll-containing bodies in chloroplasts of plant cells.  y Montero mon·te·ro
