CAMERA VIEWS ARMENIANS PHOTO DISPLAY TODAY, SATURDAY.

PASADENA - Jacob Jacob (jā`kəb), in the Bible, ancestor of the Hebrews, the younger of Isaac and Rebecca's twin sons; the older was Esau. But traveling to Egypt and Syria with his father, a photographer for Lebanese media outlets, Demirdjian saw the hidden power of the camera lens.

``The camera permits you to see important things, like queens and presidents,'' he said. ``If my father doesn't have a camera, he cannot walk with me to see those things.''

Today, after working 20 years as a photojournalist, Demirdjian is showing many of his photos of important Armenian figures in business and politics. The exhibit, ``Images of Life,'' is on display from 5 to 9 p.m. today and Saturday at the Armenian Cilicia Evangelical Church Evangelical Church: see Evangelical United Brethren Church. , 339 S. Demirdjian has shot photos of subjects that include former California Gov. George Deukmejian Courken George Deukmejian, Jr. (born July 6, 1928) is an American Republican politician from California, the thirty-fifth Governor of California (1983-1991), and a former California Attorney General (1979-1983). , billionaire financier Kirk Kerkorian Kerkor "Kirk" Kerkorian (Armenian: Քըրք Քըրքորյան) (born June 6, 1917) is an American billionaire, and president/CEO of Tracinda Corporation, his private holding , artists, religious figures and an arms dealer.

He sees his work as reflecting the tensions of city life and the internal conflicts of maintaining one's identity.

``All of us are wounded, and the wounds never go,'' said Demirdjian, who lives in Pasadena. ``Everyone that comes to L.A., they have wounds.''

His photography has given him a chance to interact with visiting dignitaries from Armenia, including the current president, vice president and foreign minister.
