(AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange :CBJ) Cambior Inc. is pleased to announce results of a first phase diamond drill program on its Seogui project, located in the eastern part of the Republic of Guinea Guinea, archaic term for Africa's west coast Guinea (gĭn`ē), an archaic term for the west coast of Africa. In its widest sense it has been applied to the region from Angola to Senegal. , West Africa West Africa A region of western Africa between the Sahara Desert and the Gulf of Guinea. It was largely controlled by colonial powers until the 20th century. West African adj. & n. . The Seogui property is owned by Japan Mining Company and consists of a 200 km2 mining concession located near Mandiana Mandiana is a town located in eastern Guinea. It is the capital of Mandiana Prefecture. . The property lies approximately 75 kilometers southeast of the low production-cost Siguiri mine, owned by Ashanti Goldfields n. 1. A small slender woolly annual (Lasthenia chrysostoma) with very narrow opposite leaves and branches bearing solitary golden-yellow flower heads; it grows from Southwestern Oregon to Baja California and Arizona; - it is often cultivated. The Seogui property is easily accessible by road, with the rainy rain·y adj. rain·i·er, rain·i·est Characterized by, full of, or bringing rain. rain i·ness n.Adj. season extending from July to September. Cambior holds an option to purchase an 85 % interest in the Seogui property. The drilling program consisted of 19 holes totaling 1,482 meters. The holes averaged 78 meters in length and were drilled to the east at 45o and spaced approximately 75 metres apart; all but two of the holes terminated in saprolite sap·ro·lite n. Soft, partially decomposed rock rich in clay and remaining in its original place. saprolite . Four east-west drill fences (17 holes) were completed to test a north-trending zone six kilometers in length in the southwestern portion of the property. This zone includes the Taman Krouni, Krouba and Kabada target areas. Two additional holes were drilled to test a target area in the southeastern corner of the property. The drilling program was completed in December 1999, and all drilling results are indicated in Table 1. HIGHLIGHTS The best results were obtained at Krouba, where holes 10 and 11 combine to define a single mineralized min·er·al·ize v. min·er·al·ized, min·er·al·iz·ing, min·er·al·iz·es v.tr. 1. SOUTHWESTERN ANOMALY Abnormality or deviation. Pronounced "uh-nom-uh-lee," it is a favorite word among computer people when complex systems produce output that is inexplicable. See software conflict and anomaly detection. This anomaly area is defined by soil gold anomalies and numerous shallow diggings by local gold miners. Gold mineralization within the anomaly is hosted by steeply west-dipping, foliated fo·li·at·ed adj. Of or relating to rock that exhibits a layered structure. SOUTHEASTERN ANOMALY The southeastern anomaly consists of a gold geochemical anomaly three kilometers in length and is located near the village of Kokoun, 15 kilometers east of the southwestern anomaly. Numerous shallow workings of local miners are observed in the area. The geology geology, science of the earth's history, composition, and structure, and the associated processes. It draws upon chemistry, biology, physics, astronomy, and mathematics (notably statistics) for support of its formulations. and style of mineralization are similar to that of the southwestern anomaly, except that gold is found in both foliated sandstone and intrusive rocks (Geol.) rocks which have been forced, while in a plastic or melted state, into the cavities or between the cracks or layers of other rocks. The term is sometimes used as equivalent to plutonic rocks ltname>. It is then contrasted with effusive or volcanic rocks. See also: Intrusive . Two holes were drilled to test the anomaly; hole 18 yielded 10.2 m @ 1.1 g Au/t. The drill core was split and the nominal sample length was one meter in general. One half of the core was sent for assay to Intertek Testing Services Bondar-Clegg of Mandiana, Republic of Guinea. All assay results in excess of 31.1 g Au/t were cut to 31.1 g Au/t. The cut assays were then used to calculate the weighted average results reported herein, unless otherwise noted.
