CAMARILLO WORKERS' PENNY PLEDGES HELP TODDLER'S WISH COME TRUE.

Employees at Two Plus Two restaurant took their company's name to heart, adding penny after penny to raise money for an ill Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  toddler.

``We're always doing something for somebody,'' says Terri Settlemire, general manager of the restaurant on Pickwick Avenue. ``It's all of us here, the waitresses, the bartenders - we've always just done it.''

Settlemire said that since April, employees and customers at the 10-year-old eatery donated $854 in pennies (and a few coins) to finance a train trip for 3-year-old Shane Guenther and his family through the Make-A-Wish Foundation The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that grants wishes to children (2.5 years to 18 years old) with life-threatening medical conditions. . ``It was a month or two before we knew who we were raising money for. We found out his age when we found out his sex,'' Settlemire said. ``That kind of motivated some of my customers because they have wee ones, too.''

Settlemire donated $196 in pennies herself. She'd been saving the copper coins for her grandson, but was touched by Shane's situation.

``That's great,'' said Nicki Eubanks, a waitress at Two Plus Two. ``We've been really worried he might be too sick to make the trip. We want him to have a really good time.''

Settlemire said the latest fund-raising campaign won't be the last at Two Plus Two.

``It's been kind of a tradition. It makes me feel kind of fluttery inside. I'm just glad we did something nice.''
