CAMARILLO HIGH SOCCER TEAM READY TO ROLL : INJURED, MISSING PLAYERS RETURN TO BOOST CHANCES AT LEAGUE TITLE.

Glen Fischer awaited the day his entire Camarillo High School boys' soccer team would play.

All right, so he's still waiting, but the day edges closer.

With the arrival of two players coming off the football season and others getting healthy, the 4-1, No. 1-ranked Scorpions appear ready to make their expected run for the Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. They started Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Channel Islands behind goals by Tom Baranay and Tony DiPaolo in the first half and eight goalie saves by Jay Caliguiri.

``I'm feeling better,'' Fischer said.

He was missing nine starters last week.

Four were hurt. Jake Lewkowski has a bad ankle, Tyler Abbott hurt his back, Mike Loza pulled a groin groin, in oceanography: see coast protection.  muscle and Chad Schutt hurt his hip.

Mike Anger and Ryan Geisler played football. Then, for last weekend's Calabasas tournament, Dagoberto Cetello and Patricio Salazar had to work and Kevin Girod was on a family vacation.

 Eddie Hernandez hurt his ankle and Loza played just half the match because Fischer chose to bring him along slowly.

``We were missing a lot of players with a lot of experience,'' Girod said. ``Now that we've got them back, we're more of a unit now.''

A unit that still needs work, Anger admitted. In fact, Anger's first soccer appearance was Monday's nonleague match with Calabasas. The first practice came the next day.

Anger and Geisler plan to use their football experiences to help the soccer team.

``I'd like to sit and talk to them about pride,'' he said. ``The major thing that got us (the football team) as far as we did was our practice ethic eth·ic
