CAMARILLO'S FAVORITE FOLKS WIN RECOGNITION : HONOREES GIVE OF TIME, ENERGY AND EXPERTISE.

Camarillo's business leaders came out in force Thursday to honor this year's top 10 community figures.

For 30 years the Camarillo community has selected outstanding residents, businesses and organizations to be recognized as Camarillo's Top Ten. Selected from more than 40 nominations, these recipients, through their time and talents, have significantly contributed to the betterment of Camarillo.

This year's recipients include:

TERRI LISAGOR - Woman of the Year

Terri Lisagor is a food science teacher at Cal State Northridge. She has been actively involved with the Camarillo branch of the American Association of University Women ''This article or section is being rewritten at The American Association of University Women (AAUW) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. , for which she coordinates the Math-Science Workshop for Girls; is a founder and steering committee steer·ing committee

JOHN WILLITS - Man of the Year

John Willits has made volunteering a priority. He volunteers his time with the Camarillo Health Care District, where he installs Lifeline equipment. He has served as president of the St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital is a hospital in Camarillo, California, USA. It is currently operated by Catholic Healthcare West. History
The hospital was founded in 1974[1].
 Auxiliary, for which he has completed more than 7,000 hours of hospital volunteer work over nine years.

TECHNICOLOR VIDEO SERVICES - Business of the Year

Technicolor has been supporting the Camarillo area since it opened here in 1993. Technicolor is a supporter of the United Way Campaign, Ventura County Council of the Boy Scouts of America Noun 1. Boy Scouts of America - a corporation that operates through a national council that charters local councils all over the United States; the purpose is character building and citizenship training , Casa Pacifica, Boys & Girls Club Girls Club is a 2002 American television series created by David E. In addition to its charitable work, Technicolor provides employment for an increasing number of people and has been a strong, profitable member of the business community.

JOSH HILL Josh Hill is an Australian Rules Footballer in the AFL with the Western Bulldogs.

In the 2006 AFL Draft he was selected in the 4th round, at number 61 overall and made his debut in round 17 of 2007 versus the West Coast Eagles.

GRETCHEN OSTERGREN - Senior of the Year

Ostergren is a charter member of the St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary. She is a member of Casa Pacifica Angels and the Ventura Council on Aging. She also serves as a reading tutor at Camarillo Heights School.

MARY-JANE BERNSTEIN - Educator of the Year

An active teacher at El Descanso for the past seven years, Bernstein is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date programs possible for her students. Holding the title of agricultural ambassador, Bernstein's dream is to develop a schoolwide garden for the children to learn about plants from a historical and cultural perspective. She has served on the Leadership Team, School Site Council, and has worked to coordinate the School Program Quality Review.

KEVIN BUDDHU - Educator of the Year

Buddhu's concern for the community is evident in his involvement as adviser for the Aquarian League, an environmental group, at Adolfo Camarillo High School. The Aquarian League is a nonprofit volunteer group that has been involved with beach cleanup, teaching elementary students about their environment and development of a recycling program at the high school. In addition to his duties as an English teacher at ACHS, Buddhu coaches both the boys and girls boys and girls

CAMARILLO DART (Disaster Assistance Response Team United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) Office of United States Foreign Disaster Assistance provides this rapidly deployable team in response to international disasters. ) - Service Organization of the Year

Since its inception in 1990, DART has provided thousands of hours of service to the Camarillo community. DART's mission is to assist personnel during emergencies or large-scale disasters. Members of DART receive a minimum of 80 hours of certified core training and advanced training during monthly meetings. Recently, DART assisted with the La Conchita mudslide, the Courtyard Medical Center fire, the Northridge Earthquake and the Green Meadows fire.
