CAM Designs Announces First Quarter Results For Fiscal 1998.


COVENTRY, U.K./NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1997--CAM Designs Inc. (Nasdaq: CMDA CMDA Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (India)

) reported a net loss for the first quarter of fiscal 1998 of $516,891, or $0.24 per share, compared to earnings of $343,171, or $0.13 per share, for the comparable year-earlier period. The current year's figures include costs of approximately $500,000 in connection with the recently announced re-alignment of the Company's operating groups.

This amount is calculated by subtracting the following items from gross sales: merchandise returned for credit, allowances for damaged or missing goods, freight
 totaled $7.2 million for the quarter ended August 31, 1997, a 35.5% increase over the $5.3 million recorded in the year-earlier period. Revenues benefited from increased sales activity in MGA (1) (Monochrome Graphics Adapter) A display adapter that employs Hercules Graphics, combining graphics and text on a monochrome monitor.
