 CALSPAN WINS $98 MILLION CONTRACT AT NASA/AMES RESEARCH CENTER
 COLUMBUS, Ind., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Arvin Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ARV) announced today that a unit of Arvin, Calspan Corporation's Service Contracts Division (SDC) in Tullahoma, Tenn. has been awarded a third, successive five year contract with an estimated value of $98 million for flight dynamics testing and wind tunnel support work at NASA's Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif.
 Calspan's role will include responsibility for the operation, maintenance, repair, and engineering support of the ground test facilities. Kenneth C. Hendershot, Calspan's general manager of operations at Ames will provide overall direction to about 180 persons employed under this contract.
 "Calspan is already providing services at most of the other NASA ground-test facility locations and the Air Force's Arnold Engineering Development Center," Calspan President H. Robert Leland said, adding, "So we are especially pleased for the opportunity for continued success at Ames."
 Teaming with Calspan as a principal subcontractor for the second time at Ames is the Mercury Division of the Bionetics Corporation. Mercury will operate and maintain Ames' high pressure air system and steam vacuum system.
 Calspan Corporation, a research and development firm with operating divisions and offices around the country, is headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y. It is a subsidiary of Arvin Industries, Inc., an Indiana corporation whose products are sold in more than 100 countries in North and South America, the European community, the Pacific Rim, and the Third World.
