CALLING ALL `STAR WARS' NERDS.

Sure, you know who Luke Skywalker's father is. And you know Yoda is 900 years old, and maybe even that the Ewoks live on a moon of Endor. But, come on. That's easy stuff. That won't get you anywhere in the world of ``Star Wars'' fandom, where every character, no matter how minor in the movies, has a story, where trivia seeps from every frame of every film.

And so, for the wanna-be galactic literati literati

Scholars in China and Japan whose poetry, calligraphy, and paintings were supposed primarily to reveal their cultivation and express their personal feelings rather than demonstrate professional skill.
, here are a few things that only real ``Star Wars'' nerds know:

of the most illogical, off-the-wall subculture in the galaxy far, far away. An obscure 'droid seen in the background of the three movies (it looks like a black box with two legs and makes a noise like ``gonk'') has inspired a full-scale intellectual movement, complete with philosophies, detractors and the story of something called ``Gonk Wars.'' Of course, all of this can be found on the Internet.

The Biggs scene: An infamous segment filmed for the original movie but never used, even for the new ``Star Wars Special Edition.'' It joins Luke and his best buddy Biggs talking on their home planet of Tatooine. Some fans claim to have seen the scene at conventions, while most others remember it clearly from the novel. (A shorter segment involving Biggs does show up at the end of the Special Edition.)

``The Star Wars Holiday Special'': An embarrassing one-time-only show that aired in 1978 and is still circulated as videotaped bootlegs. The plot has Chewbacca traveling to his home planet so he can spend the holidays with his Wookie clan and, of course, '70s supergroupers Jefferson Starship Jefferson Starship was an American rock band popular in the 1970s and 1980s. Boba Fett: Widely regarded as the most underrated, underused character in the trilogy. While this faceless, armored bounty hunter Name for a category of persons who are offered a promised gratuity in return for "hunting" down and capturing or killing a designated target, usually a person or animal.  has only a handful of scenes and almost no lines, fans consider him an all-time favorite. He's dark, mysterious, dangerous. And besides, he's the only man (or woman?) in the galaxy who can capture Han Solo Han Solo is a character in the Star Wars universe. He was played by Harrison Ford in , , The Star Wars Holiday Special, and .

. Much debate surrounds his supposed death in ``Jedi.''

The other bounty hunters: They only show up for a minute of screen time in ``The Empire Strikes Back,'' as Darth Vader issues the order for Han Solo, dead or alive. But any self-respecting fan knows that the guy who looks like he's wearing a turban is Dengar, the guy who looks like a lizard is Bossk, and the guy who looks like a robot is IG-88.

A New Hope: The actual name of the first movie, according to the opening text is ``Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope.'' But you can just say ``ANH'' for short.

The Journal of the Whills: Mythical book mentioned in the preface to the ``Star Wars'' novel, and which, according to some fans, actually exists. They claim it was written by George Lucas and contains notes and outlines for the six other proposed movies. A screenplay treatment based on these ``outlines'' has been circulating for decades, and contains the now-infamous scene of Anakin Skywalker falling into a volcano, becoming horribly disfigured dis·fig·ure
