CALIFORNIA STATE CONTROLLER TO ANNOUNCE RESULTS OF L.A. TEST OF CHILD SUPPORT COLLECTION PROGRAM

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- California State Controller Gray Davis will announce the results of a five month test in Los Angeles County of the Franchise Tax Board's new Child Support Collection Program at a news conference at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, in room 739 of the Hall of Administration, 500 West Temple, Los Angeles.
The Child Support Collection Program is designed to increase the amount of child support going to custodial parents. Los Angeles County will be part of a year-long, six-county pilot program involving the Child Support Collection Program which starts in January 1994. The program makes the Franchise Tax Board the collector of last resort for child support, using the agency's powerful computer tracking abilities to trace deadbeat parents.
Davis will be accompanied at the news conference by members of his Child Support Advisory Task Force including Supervisors Gloria Molina and Yvonne Brathwaite Burke.
