CALIFORNIA QUARTZ SUBSIDIARY SELECTED AS PROVIDER OF COMPUTER TRAINING

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- California Quartz, Inc. (NASDAQ: CALQ; CALQW - warrants) today announced that its subsidiary, Focus Automation Corporation, has been selected by the Long Beach, Calif., Employment Development Office (EDD) as a provider of computer training.
The Long Beach EDD currently is assessing 1,500 people for eligibility for re-training under the Federal Trade Readjustment Act (TRA). All of these layoffs are from nearby McDonnell Douglas. Preliminary research by the Long Beach EDD indicates that 40 percent of these participants will be requesting computer training. With an average of approximately $6,000 per student, Focus Automation Corporation could realize revenues of up to $3.6 million, over the next 12 months. Over time, an additional 15,000 individuals are to be assessed for eligibility by the Long Beach, and other regional EDD offices, so that California Quartz can expect continuing revenues from this source for a number of years to come, with an upward potential of $36 million.
California Quartz is engaged in the fabrication of quartz glass products for use in the manufacture of integrated circuits by the semiconductor industry. Their clients include IBM, AT&T, Unisys, Texas Instruments, Xerox, etc. California Quartz has a wholly owned subsidiary, Focus Automation Corporation, that is engaged in the computer training business.
