CALIFORNIA QUARTZ RECEIVES CONTRACT FROM ULTRA VIOLET DEVICES

    SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- California Quartz, Inc. (NASDAQ: CALQ, warrants: CALQW) has recently received a large new contract from Ultra Violet Devices, Inc. ("UVDI").  The contract calls for California Quartz to build 720,000 units at $2.58 per piece, which results in a contract valued at nearly $1.9 million over three years.
    These quartz parts will be manufactured on an automated assembly line at the company's Santa Ana, Calif. location.  This contract hallmarks a dramatic entry into the Germicidal Lamp business.  UVDI estimates that this current order is 25-35 percent below their actual projected requirements.
    California Quartz is engaged in the fabrication of quartz products for use in the manufacture of integrated circuits by the semiconductor industry, and their clients include IBM, AT&T, Unisys, Texas Instruments, Xerox, etc.  California Quartz has a wholly owned subsidiary, Focus Automation Corporation, that is engaged in the computer training business.
