CALIFORNIA MARRIOTT HOTELS REWARD GUESTS WITH FREQUENT FLYER MILES

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning May 1, 1993, an overnight stay at one of 27 California Marriott Hotels will earn an unprecedented reward: frequent flyer miles.
This new program, named "Marriott Miles," allows members to earn 500 frequent flyer miles on the participating airline of their choice for each Marriott stay. After five stays, members receive an additional 2,500 bonus miles. The program's remarkable value can be explained with this example: After just 20 stays, a Marriott Miles member would earn 20,000 miles, which is enough to exchange for one roundtrip ticket anywhere in the United States on most airlines.
Marriott Miles is precedent setting because members are not required to fly to receive miles and there is no limit on mileage earned. As part of a national program, miles are automatically credited to the members' preferred frequent flyer account each time they check in to any of Marriott's 250 hotels worldwide. The following airlines are honoring these Marriott bonus points: American Airlines, British Airways, Northwest, USAir, Continental(a) and TWA(b).
There is no charge to become a member of Marriott Miles and travelers can enroll by calling toll free 800-FOR-MILES (800-367-6453). Enrollment forms can also be obtained at any Marriott hotel front desk.
The Marriott Miles program is offered from May 1, 1993, to June 30, 1994, and is not available through Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, New Otani Hotels or Marriott Ownership Resorts.
 (a) Continental One Pass members will receive 1,000 Marriott Miles per stay and 5,000 bonus miles on the fifth stay.
 (b) TWA Frequent Flyers receive 1,000 Marriott Miles per stay at any non-U.S. Marriott Hotel.
