CALIFORNIA FEDERAL BANK OFFERS ASSISTANCE TO VICTIMS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FIRES

 LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- California Federal Bank (NYSE: CAL) today said it has established a toll-free number for customers who have suffered financial setbacks as a result of the recent Southern California fires. The toll-free number, 800-431-4842, is available weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. PDT.
 California Federal Bank customers affected by the fire may be able to temporarily alter terms on mortgages, equity and consumer loans. All cases will be addressed on an individual basis, the Bank said.
 "We will do everything we can to ease the financial worries of our customers who have been directly affected by these tragic fires," said Edward G. Harshfield, president and chief executive officer of California Federal Bank.
 California Federal will also assist in expediting insurance claims and providing documentation to customers completing applications for state and federal aid.
