CALIFORNIA BURNING; 2,000 people flee raging wildfires.Byline: STEPHEN WHITE FIRE crews continued to battle raging wildfires yesterday that have forced thousands to flee their homes in California. The blazes have swept though the Santa Cruz mountains blackening several square miles of remote hillside forest. Local authorities issued a compulsory evacuation order to 2,000 residents and several vineyards, as the fire threatened more than 1,000 homes and other buildings. Hundreds of firefighters were joined by six helicopters and six fixedwing aircraft trying to beat back the flames. There were no reports of injuries. Evacuee e·vac·u·ee n.
