CALENDAR: HART AND VALENCIA TO BATTLE FOR TOP SPOT.

Call it the Battle of the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. .

In a key Foothill League football showdown Thursday night, rivals Hart and Valencia will go head-to-head at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  in a 7 p.m. showdown.

The game is being televised live on Fox Sports West 2.

Both teams are 5-2 overall, 2-0 in league play, and with the regular season ending Nov. 13, the winner likely will go on to take the Foothill crown.

The Saugus girls' volleyball team tries to keep its lead in the Foothill League race as the Centurions face host Hart in a 4:45 p.m. match today. . . .
