CALARTS WINS GRANT FOR COMMUNITY WORK.Byline: Daily News VALENCIA - The California Institute for the Arts will receive a $50,000 federal grant. The money will come from the National Endowment for the Arts National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Independent agency of the U.S. government that supports the creation, dissemination, and performance of the arts. It was created by the U.S. or its Community Arts Partnership The Community Arts Partnership (usually known as CAP) was established in 1990,and is the first program of its kind in the U.S. The program links the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) to community art centers and public schools throughout Los Angeles County as part of an program. Of 213 such grants announced this week, all but 15 percent were for less than $50,000 each. ``The grant process for the National Endowment for the Arts is extremely competitive,'' said U.S. Rep. Howard P. ``Buck'' McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, who serves on the endowment advisory council for the acting chairwoman, Eileen Mason. ``The success of the ... application is further proof of the excellent work that CalArts is doing in our community.'' CalArts runs an in-depth program giving community youths the opportunity to work with institute faculty, students and artists.
