CALARTS PLANNING FALL CONCERT SERIES.Byline: Daily News VALENCIA - California Institute of the Arts California Institute of the Arts known as CalArts U.S. private institution of higher learning in Valencia. Created in 1961 through the merger of two other art institutes, it was the first in the U.S. will hold classical concerts this month and next on the Valencia campus, events open to the public. The School of Music's Fall Salon will present five evenings of chamber music featuring baroque, romantic and lyric compositions. Internationally renowned musicians from the CalArts faculty and invited guests will perform in the Roy O. Disney Roy Oliver Disney (June 24, 1893–December 20, 1971, aged 78) was, with his younger brother Walt Disney, co-founder of what is now The Walt Disney Company. Roy served as the company's chief executive officer (1929–1971)-though title name wasn't given until 1968-, Music Hall at CalArts, 24700 McBean Parkway. This fall, the series will feature CalArts' newest music school faculty member, pianist Liam Viney. After each concert, a reception with the musicians will offer refreshments chosen to enhance the themes of the evening. For information, call the campus ticket office at (661) 253-7800. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens. Adult tickets for all five performances are $50, and $20 for students and senior citizens. CalArts professor of violin, viola and chamber music Mark Menzies designed the Fall Salon and will perform throughout the series. Menzies planned the salon to introduce audiences to the classical side of CalArts. ``This little collection of concerts illustrates that although CalArts' School of Music is renowned for its avant-garde explorations, its instrumental faculty is also versed in traditional forms,'' Menzies said. ``Playing contemporary avant-garde music is a little like building an attic. You have to build the house first, and that house includes the classics.'' For the series, Menzies mixes favorites with little known discoveries. The first evening will feature the music of Mozart. Later highlights include Robert Schumann's ``Fairy Tales This is a list of fairy tales, the dates of their earliest known printed version, the author and, if known, the collection of tales in which it was published.
